Edmund Baxter: Bio

Ed Baxter
Edmund Baxter is a native of Washingtonian who has been working professionally in DC since 1985. His first job was a six-month stint with The Washington Source for Lighting, DC’s premier grip/electric and lighting company. After freelancing for eighteen months, Ed joined the video production department at The Acacia Group, a financial services company, where he was a staff producer.

In 1990, Ed formed Infinity Film & Video Productions, Inc., a full service production company. Infinity was a ground-breaking company, in that it was one of the very first independent production companies featuring broadcast quality cameras and Betacam SP on-line editing in-house. Infinity produced hundreds of videos for its clients, winning dozens of awards including The Telly’s, The US International Film and Video Festival, The Washington, DC Peer Awards and many more. Infinity added interactive media to its portfolio in 1997 in response to a changing market place.

In 2003 Ed shut down Infinity and launched Washington Picture Works, Inc. While WPW reflects many of the traditions of Infinity, it also carries forward with a new mission – to develop independent feature film projects here in Washington, DC.

In addition to running Washington Picture Works, Inc. Ed is also an instructor at The American Film Institute, where he produces their 35mm workshop and is an instructor for their intensive summer production workshop called “Movie Camp”. Ed sits on the Board of Directors for ITVA, DC (International Television Association) and chairs the meetings and training committee. Over the years, he has taught numerous workshops including “Lighting Tips and Tricks”, “Being Creative in a Corporate Environment”, and “Creativity on a Shoe String”.

Ed received his BFA from NYU film school, and has done additional studies at USC’s School of Cinema Television, and The American University.
